Warrant issued for Worthington man accused of sexual misconduct
/A warrant was issued yesterday for a Worthington man following an investigation into a complaint of inappropriate behavior.
This incident of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony, has been under investigation by Det. Sgt. James O’Malley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department since mid-October.
Terry L. Scales, 56, of rural Worthington, is accused of inappropriate and unwanted sexual contact with a juvenile who was visiting his home in October.
On October 14, a call was made to the sheriff’s department and a deputy took the information for the initial complaint. The case was then forwarded to Det. Sgt. O’Malley.
The next day, the alleged victim was at a hospital to have a sexual assault examination performed. In addition to that evidence, clothing worn at the time of the incident was gathered.
Forensic interviews were then completed at Suzie’s Place in Terre Haute with the alleged victim and another juvenile who was also present during the incident.
A few days later, Scales was interviewed at the sheriff’s department. Scales allegedly denied any intentional contact of a sexual nature.
This week a criminal case was filed against Scales and a warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday, December 4.
