Clinten Reed Dalton, 35, Jasonville, was expected to turn himself in at the Greene County Jail on August 7. When he didn’t appear, Det. Shawn Cullison of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation that resulted in a criminal case filed against Dalton for failure to return to lawful detention, a Level 6 felony.

Dalton now has four criminal cases pending against him, the new one and three older cases, with four warrants issued in August.

In two of the older cases, Dalton was found guilty of felony dealing methamphetamine – these incidents date back several years. Dalton has served sentences in the Indiana Department of Corrections, been released, and had been on probation.

Last spring, warrants were issued for his arrest for alleged violations of his probation. He was arrested on March 11 and bonded out of jail. On July 22, during a hearing, he admitted to the violations and was sentenced to 180 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections with credit for two days already served. After he serves this time, he would be released and be back on probation.

Det. Cullison reported that at Dalton’s sentencing, Dalton asked that he not have to go to jail that day. He asked for additional time before he had to turn himself in. The judge agreed and ordered him to report to the jail no later than 6 p.m. on August 7.

Det. Cullison said Dalton’s whereabouts were unknown on August 10 and a couple of days later, the new criminal case was filed and a warrant issued. Then warrants were issued for probation violations in all of Dalton’s cases for the total of four.
