Underage drinking party busted; several being summoned into court
/A deputy was dispatched to a noise complaint and wound up busting up an underage drinking party. Three juveniles are in trouble and today, summons were issued to six individuals aged 18-20 ordering them to appear in court on charges of alcohol possession by a minor, a Class C misdemeanor.
Deputy Zachary Goad, the lead investigating officer, was dispatched after the sheriff’s department was notified around 12:23 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, of a noise complaint and a possible party going on at a residence on County Road 1225 West. A caller had first called the Linton Police Department who then contacted the sheriff’s department.
Deputy Goad said when he arrived in the area, he found multiple vehicles parked in the driveway of a residence on the west side of the road. The row of vehicles extended from the garage to the road.
The first individuals Deputy Goad made contact with were Jayden Teague and Nathaniel Crowe. Deputy Goad asked if they were having a party. Crowe allegedly said yes, they had a few people over but also said it was not his residence. Jayden Teague allegedly told Deputy Goad it was her grandparent’s residence and they were out of town.
Deputy Goad reported he saw multiple people inside the house when he looked at a window. He asked everyone to step outside then asked who had been drinking. Several admitted they had been drinking. None of the individuals were 21 years of age or older.
Next came the portable breath tests. Three juveniles tested with BACs of .049, .038 and .049. Their names and other information is not a matter of public record.
The following individuals tested positive for alcohol and are facing charges:
Lillian Fields, 18, Linton, BAC .120
Nathaniel Crowe, 20, Bloomfield, BAC .138
Jayden Teague, 18, Linton, BAC .045
Jaden Evans, 19, Solsberry, BAC .132
Anthony Boswell, 20, Bloomington, BAC .141
Landon Jerrells, 19, Linton, BAC .025
Deputy Goad said those who had a BAC were asked to stay at the residence or find a sober driver to take them home. As for the juveniles, Deputy Goad contacted their parents and made arrangements for them to be picked up and get home safely.
Criminal summons have been issued to all those listed, ordering them to appear in Greene Superior Court on Monday afternoon, July 27, for their initial hearings.
