A Greene County family was the victim of an armed robbery and shooting in Indianapolis early today, Thursday, September 17. Wilma Hochstetler died on the scene and her husband, Jonathan Hochstetler, was hospitalized and is expected to survive. The Hochstetlers reside in rural Worthington.

Earlier today, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) confirmed the shooting had occurred but gave few details. IMPD released the names of the victims this afternoon.

IMPD officers responded to a location in the 3000 block of North High School Road around 1:30 a.m.

Jonathan Hochstetler, who owns a roofing/construction company, was on a work site when he had mechanical trouble. His wife Wilma had left Worthington, with the Hochstetler's six-year-old son, to go to Indianapolis to deliver a truck and parts needed for repairs.

While the Hochstetlers were working on the repairs, two men pulled firearms and robbed them of money then shot Wilma, who was deceased on the scene. They then shot Jonathan in the neck. Either Jonathan or his son was able to call 911.

Jonathan was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis and the son is back with family members. The Hochstetlers are the parents of four children.

No information about the suspects has been released but IMPD is asking for anyone with information about the shooting to contact the IMPD Homicide Division at 317-327-3475.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family friend to help the Hochstetlers through this trying time. Click here to go to the Jonathan and Wilma Hochstetler Love Fund.
