Man accused of owing more than $28K in child support arrested in Greene County
/A 38-year-old Switz City man was arrested March 1 after authorities alleged he failed to pay more than $28,000 in court-ordered child support.
According to court documents, Andrew Steven Bland was arrested March 1 on a warrant issued Feb. 10 for nonsupport of a child, a Level 5 felony. The charge was filed in Greene Superior Court.
Court records state Bland was originally ordered on March 18, 2014, to pay $69 per week in child support under an order issued in Greene Superior Court.
An order modifying support was entered May 30, 2025, setting Bland’s support obligation at $0 per week between Feb. 21 and April 10, 2025, before reinstating the $69 weekly payment beginning April 11, 2025, according to the probable cause affidavit.
A Greene County Child Support Administrator told investigators Bland accumulated $1,679.03 in additional arrears between April 11 and Dec. 31, 2025, after allegedly failing to make the required payments.
Authorities reported Bland owed $28,519.28 in total child support arrears as of Dec. 31, 2025.
Investigators also interviewed an individual who said Bland had made only two $10 payments in recent months and had not made regular payments following a prior conviction for nonsupport of a child.
An initial hearing in the case was scheduled for March 3 in Greene Superior Court.
