Man accused of being awake on drugs for five days straight gets a trip to jail

When the girlfriend of a Linton man called LPD saying he’d been awake for five days straight and was out of control, LPD officers responded and talked to both then transported the man to the Greene County Jail.

Christopher Ryan Andis

Christopher Ryan Andis, 23, Linton, was arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department last Wednesday night, June 15.

Shortly after 7 PM last Wednesday, LPD dispatch got a call from a woman who said her boyfriend had been high for five days and had not slept for five days. She said he was out of control but no weapons were involved.

Officer Walker responded along with Lieutenant Bobby Pierce and knocked on the door. Andis answered and said it was OK for them to come inside where they noticed he had an aggressive attitude with the woman as they came in and she said, “He just threw me over the TV stand.”

When Officer Walker talked to her outside the residence, she said he'd been up for five days and that all he wanted to do was to get high, throw stuff around, beat up the walls, and then he did throw her over the TV stand. She said this behavior had been going on all day. Officer Walker reported she had cuts and scratches on an arm from being pushed over the TV stand. When asked why Andis said she had gone after him, she allegedly said he's been up five days and doesn't even know what's going on. She said he had been using methamphetamine, was seeing things in the house and had recently been to the hospital for it where he was advised to go into rehab but he refused. When asked about a resolution to this situation, she said she didn't want him screaming at her anymore and she didn't have anywhere else to go for the night to be in a safe place while he cooled off.

When Officer Walker talked to Andis, he asked if the woman had any marks on her and when the officer said she did, Andis advised that she tripped and fell over the TV stand and that she had chased him through the house and he ran out the door. He also said she hit him.

After talking some more with Andis, he was placed under arrest and escorted out the door to a patrol vehicle then transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 7:48 PM with bond set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed.

Andis has since bonded out of jail but is scheduled to be in Greene Superior Court on July 7 for an initial hearing on a charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
