A Linton man is facing two misdemeanor charges after police say his truck ended up in a ditch while he was driving home from Jasonville Saturday night.

Kitric Charles Hudson, 36, was arrested early Sept. 20 on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

According to a supplemental probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, the Greene County Sheriff's Office received a report of a truck in a ditch at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sept. 19.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Herschel Blankenship responded and was assisted by Linton Police Officer Bracey Breneman. According to the affidavit, Breneman reported seeing Hudson stumble up a hill from his vehicle. Hudson allegedly told the officer he had turned too wide while driving, resulting in the crash.

Hudson later told Blankenship he had consumed seven shots while watching the Notre Dame football game and was driving home to Linton from Jasonville, according to court documents.

Blankenship administered standardized field sobriety tests and reported observing multiple indicators of impairment during each of the tests.

Hudson also submitted to a portable breath test, which the affidavit reports produced a reading of .226 — more than two times the legal limit.

According to the affidavit, Hudson declined to consent to a chemical test and requested an attorney. Blankenship then transported him to Greene County General Hospital while seeking a search warrant for a blood draw.

Judge Dena Martin approved the search warrant at approximately 11:51 p.m., and the blood draw was performed shortly after midnight, according to the affidavit. Results from the blood draw are pending.

Hudson was booked into the Greene County Jail at approximately 12:55 a.m. Sept. 20. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed, and he was released after posting $400.

The case was filed Sept. 23. Hudson faces Class A misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering a person and Class C misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 8 for an initial hearing.
