Linton man arrested following child exploitation investigation
/A Linton man has been arrested following an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation that authorities say uncovered evidence of child sexual abuse material being possessed and transmitted through an online messaging platform.
Charles Wilson, 45, faces charges of possession of child sex abuse material with an aggravating factor, a Level 5 felony, and possession of child sex abuse material, a Level 6 Felony. The charges stem from an investigation initiated after multiple CyberTipline reports were submitted to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
According to a probable cause affidavit written by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Det. David Elmore, the reports identified an online account allegedly involved in the transmission of child sexual abuse material. Investigators with the Rockville Police Department, an affiliate of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, referred the case to the Greene County Sheriff's Department for further investigation.
Court documents state investigators used records from electronic service providers, subscriber information, IP address data and device information to identify an account and cellphone allegedly connected to Wilson. Authorities allege the digital evidence linked the account to repeated activity involving child sexual abuse material during May 2026.
On July 7, a search warrant was issued for Wilson's property. The search warrant was executed on July 10 at his Linton residence, where investigators seized electronic devices and interviewed Wilson. According to the affidavit, Wilson acknowledged owning the email account, cellphone, and certain online accounts associated with the investigation. Investigators allege portions of his statements were inconsistent with the digital evidence they obtained.
The affidavit further states that investigators believe the evidence demonstrates Wilson knowingly possessed, accessed, and transmitted child sexual abuse material through electronic communication services.
He was transported to the Greene County Jail on July 10 where he was held without bond.
