Linton man arrested by BPD, charged with stalking, is racking up arrests

A Linton man arrested Monday in Bloomfield was charged with stalking, a Level 5 felony, when he appeared in court yesterday afternoon, Thursday, August 16. He now has four criminal cases pending against him.

Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, Linton, was arrested by Lt. Marvin Holt of the Bloomfield Police Department on Monday evening.

Lt. Holt was dispatched to a woman’s apartment in Bloomfield around 6:30 p.m. that night, along with BPD Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor and Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore on the report that Donaldson was there, in violation of a protective order.

Donaldson had left the scene before officers arrived and they were unable to locate him in the area.

A no-contact order had been put in place on June 12 to protect the woman who lived in the apartment.

Donaldson allegedly went to the apartment and knocked on the door then when the woman opened the door to see who it was, he pushed the door open, went inside without consent and shut the door behind him. He was asked to leave several times but did not. The woman was able to leave and went to the nearby apartment of a friend.

When Donaldson knocked on the door of the friend’s apartment, the friend told him police had been called and that she had a gun. He left.

Before returning to her own apartment, the woman waited until officers went in and made sure he was not there.

A short time later, the officers were called back to the apartment and when they arrived, the woman was on the phone with Donaldson. He had contacted her via Facetime and was still talking. Lt. Holt recorded the rest of the conversation on his own cell phone.

Deputy Elmore and GCSD Det. Shawn Cullison then went to Donaldson’s residence, detained him and transported him to the sheriff’s department where Lt. Holt was able to interview him.

According to Lt. Holt, Donaldson said he had not been to the woman’s apartment that day, had not called her that day, but they were together at the zoo over the previous weekend.

When Lt. Holt explained there were several witnesses that saw him at the apartment, and that he had recorded the phone conversation, Donaldson allegedly said he couldn’t leave the woman alone because he loved her.

Donaldson was booked in and held without bond pending his court appearance.

A criminal case was filed and on Thursday afternoon, when he appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing, he was charged with:

  • Stalking, a Level 5 felony,
  • Invasion of privacy – a violation of a no-contact order, a Class A misdemeanor, and
  • Residential entry, a Level 6 felony.

His bond in this case was set at $15,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

However, he’s been arrested numerous times in the past few weeks and is now being held without bond in other cases.

In the Jail Log on GreeneStreets, just since the first of June, Donaldson appears several times:

  • June 7 – Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, homeless, was arrested on a preliminary charge of misdemeanor invasion of privacy. He was being held without bond. Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Lt. Marvin Holt was the arresting officer.
  • June 29 – Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, Linton, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence in a case involving felony residential entry and invasion of privacy. He was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore was the arresting officer.
  • July 20 – Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, Linton, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued on a preliminary charge of felony battery to a child under the age of 14. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent allowed. Linton Police Officer Indiana Miller was the arresting officer.
  • August 3 – Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, Linton, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued for failure to appear in court in a case involving felony invasion of privacy. His bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He was released later the same day after posting $1,000 cash. Greene County Jail Commander Ken Conolty was the arresting officer.
  • August 13 – Kevin Wayne Donaldson, 49, Linton, Ind., was arrested on preliminary charges of felony stalking, invasion of privacy and residential entry. He was being held without bond. Bloomfield Lt. Marvin Holt was the arresting officer.

In mid-July, Donaldson was charged with battery on a person less than 14 years old, a Level 6 felony.

Back in early June, he was charged with invasion of privacy, a Level 6 felony. In that case, a petition to revoke his bond was filed on Thursday and the court did enter an order to revoke, so he’s now being held without bond.

In an older case dating back to March of 2017, Donaldson was charged with residential entry, a Level 6 felony, invasion of privacy, a Level 6 felony, and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. In that case, Donaldson was convicted of the first two counts, the third was dismissed, he was sentenced and was currently on probation. But a petition to revoke his suspended sentence was filed and on Thursday, the judge issued a warrant for his arrest in this case too.
