Linton man accused of battery and criminal confinement

A physical altercation stopped after a woman started yelling to get someone’s attention. One neighbor called law enforcement and another knocked on the door.

Christopher Alvin Adams, 18, Linton, was arrested on Tuesday night, May 26, by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Around 7:18 p.m. that Tuesday, dispatchers at the sheriff’s department received a call from a woman who asked for a welfare check on a neighboring apartment in Linton. She said she could hear a female voice yelling and beating on the walls.

Deputy Jackson was dispatched and when he talked to those present in the apartment, learned a physical altercation had taken place between Adams and a woman with a child in a crib present in the room when it occurred.

Adams is accused of throwing the woman on a bed causing her to bump her head on a wall then physically restraining her, not letting her go when she asked him to stop. The woman said she started yelling to get someone’s attention.

In addition to the caller, another neighbor heard the altercation and knocked on the door of the apartment and the altercation then stopped.

Adams was taken into custody and booked in to the Greene County Jail at 8:52 p.m.

His bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late June 3, he had not yet posted bond.

When Adams appears for an initial hearing in Greene Superior Court, he will be charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony, and criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony.
