An Indianapolis man is facing felony charges after police say he pointed a firearm at a female and threatened to shoot her before running from officers in Linton.

Dakoda Landon Baskerville, 20, was arrested early Sunday, Sept. 20. A case was filed Monday in Greene Superior Court.

Baskerville is charged with Level 5 felony intimidation involving the drawing or use of a deadly weapon, Level 6 felony pointing a firearm at another person, and Class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, according to court records.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Linton Police Department Patrolman Jerrad Pirtle, officers were dispatched to a Linton residence for a report of a man with a firearm who was attempting to get inside.

Pirtle said he spoke with female, who identified Baskerville as her boyfriend. Weaver allegedly told police Baskerville was intoxicated and had pulled a gun on her before running from the residence.

Pirtle began searching the area and reported seeing Baskerville running through an alley about a half-block away. According to the affidavit, Pirtle identified himself as a police officer and repeatedly ordered Baskerville to stop, but Baskerville continued running and disappeared from the officer's view near a backyard fence.

Greene County Sheriff's Department deputies later located Baskerville west of the residence and took him into custody.

During subsequent interviews, the female told police she had been asleep when Baskerville returned home and allegedly began causing a disturbance. She said the confrontation eventually moved outside, where Baskerville allegedly pointed a firearm at her and threatened to shoot her.

A witness told police she saw Baskerville point a firearm at the female and heard him threaten to shoot both the female and a family member of the female, according to the affidavit.

The female told police she believed the firearm was unloaded because Baskerville allegedly pulled the trigger while pointing it at her and the gun did not fire.

After being advised of his Miranda rights, Baskerville denied having a firearm and told police another man at the residence had two Glock handguns, according to the affidavit. Police did not locate a firearm in the area where Baskerville was taken into custody.

Pirtle later returned to the path Baskerville had allegedly taken while fleeing and noticed a black backpack near the corner of a fence and house. The female initially identified the backpack as hers and later told Pirtle there were two firearms inside, according to the affidavit.

Pirtle reported finding two Glock handguns in the backpack, each containing a magazine. Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for the firearms and a DNA sample from the female. The affidavit states family members later told police they did not believe the female owned firearms or knew the guns were inside the backpack.

The affidavit does not state that DNA testing had been completed or establish through forensic testing who had handled the firearms.

Baskerville was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:08 a.m. No bond was allowed.
