Greene County declares red status travel emergency
/Nathan Abrams, president of the Greene County Board of Commissioners, has announced that Greene County has moved to a red status travel emergency, the highest level of local travel advisory.
As a result, Greene County government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, with the exception of offices and departments that provide emergency services or services critical to the restoration of normal county operations.
A red status travel emergency indicates that travel is restricted to emergency management workers only. During a travel warning, individuals are directed to:
Refrain from all travel;
Comply with necessary emergency measures;
Cooperate with public officials and disaster response agencies in executing emergency operations plans; and
Obey all lawful directions from properly identified officers.
Residents are urged to remain indoors and monitor official channels for further updates.
