Friday afternoon crash claims life of Jasonville man

A Jasonville man suffered numerous broken bones and a head injury when his vehicle ran off a county road and crashed, ejecting him from the vehicle, last Friday afternoon. He was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Travis Glenn St. John, 37, Jasonville, was driving a blue 2002 Ford Explorer westbound on County Road 700 N, east of State Road 59, when the crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. last Friday, March 25.

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Caleb Sipes, the investigating officer, reported that St. John was ejected from the vehicle when it ran off the road and inverted.

Personnel from several departments responded to the scene including the Sheriff's Department, the Jasonville Police Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers, Greene County Emergency Ambulance Service, Wright Township Fire Department, Skinners Towing and AirEvac.

Deputy Sipes said Wright Township Fire Department was first to arrive on the scene, located St. John and requested an air evacuation.

St. John was transported by AirEvac 39 to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis with several broken bones and a head injury.

St. John later passed away as a result of his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
