Community invited to donate school supplies for National Night Out
/As preparations continue for Greene County National Night Out, organizers are asking the community to help local students start the school year off right by donating new school supplies.
The Greene County Alliance is collecting donations to distribute to Greene County students and families during National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Humphreys Park in Linton.
Organizers say every donation—whether it's a notebook, backpack, box of crayons or package of pencils—helps equip local children for a successful school year.
Suggested donation items include:
Pencils and pens
Notebooks and folders
Crayons, markers, and colored pencils
Scissors and glue sticks
Rulers
Backpacks
Hand sanitizer and tissues
Headphones
Other new school supplies
Donations may be dropped off during regular business hours at the following locations:
Greene County Soil & Water
Linton First Christian Church
American Family Insurance Office
Shakamak Pharmacy
Members of the National Night Out Committee will collect the donated supplies from each location before the event.
The deadline to donate is Monday, Aug. 3, by the close of business.
Greene County National Night Out is a community event that brings together residents, law enforcement, first responders and local organizations to promote neighborhood connections and public safety. This year's event will also provide school supplies to help area students prepare for the upcoming school year.
