Marvin Leroy Brewer, 42, Bloomfield, was arrested on Friday, September 27, on a warrant issued for failure to appear in court in some pending case. Following the arrest, another warrant was issued on new charges that stemmed from an incident that occurred when he was taken into custody. Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore was the arresting officer.

Deputy Elmore, the investigating officer in the latest case against Brewer, went to Brewer’s home on Coen Road, Bloomfield, along with GCSD Deputy Alan Jackson and Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor, to serve an arrest warrant on Brewer, issued for failure to appear.

As Elmore was arriving at the home, Deputy Jackson was coming up through the woods behind the residence. They reported seeing one person run into the house and a juvenile come out of the house and leave with someone. They knocked and announced their presence multiple times but there was no answer.

Deputy Elmore also reported that in plain view on the property, he saw syringes that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

While they were there, a woman came home with another juvenile, allegedly said she had nothing to hide and allowed the officers to search the house and garage.

Deputy Elmore reported that when he and Officer Allor searched, they found digital scales with white substances and multiple used syringes with some of these items testing positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

The woman said none of these items belonged to her. She texted Brewer then started yelling in the woods behind the house. Deputy Elmore said a short time later, Brewer yelled back that he was coming out. When he emerged, he was taken into custody without issue.

Deputy Elmore reported Brewer said all illegal substances, syringes and paraphernalia were his and the woman didn’t know about them.

Brewer was booked into jail around 10 p.m.

By Thursday, October 3, a new criminal case had been filed against Brewer.

On Tuesday, October 8, when Brewer appeared in Greene Superior Court, his bond was set at $50,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, and he was formally charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Maintaining a common nuisance – controlled substance, a Level 6 felony.

At least one other criminal case is pending against Brewer – today, Thursday, October 10, a petition to revoke a suspended sentence in a previous case was filed.
