Dustin Eugene Watts, 39, Jasonville, was arrested on Friday, November 22, by Officer Jake Gambill of the Jasonville Police Department.

There was a warrant out for Watts, on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence. Watts was arrested in early April and subsequently charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He was convicted in June and sentenced to one year and six months with one year and one month suspended. He was given credit for time served. He was currently still on probation.

On Friday afternoon, November 22, Officer Gambill was on patrol when he saw Watts riding a bicycle west on Main Street in Jasonville. Officer Gambill told Watts about the warrant and attempted to take Watts into custody but he said Watts was uncooperative. There was a struggle and Watts was taken to the ground.

No weapons were located during a pat-down prior to transporting Watts to the jail, but once there, jail officers reported finding pills in his pocket along with a small plastic bag with white residue. The pills were identified as a Schedule II controlled substance. The bag tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

When Watts appeared in Greene Superior Court today, Wednesday, November 27, a public defender was appointed to represent him and he was charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a controlled substance a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor.

Bond was set at $30,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but Watts is being held without bond on the petition to revoke his suspended sentence in the previous case.
