Bloomfield woman facing charges of domestic battery, breaking and entering, and theft

A Bloomfield woman was arrested in June after an alleged battery on her husband. He left and has been living in Linton. Last Friday she was arrested again after allegedly kicking in his door and battering him again in violation of a protective order.

Amanda Dawn Bruhn, 35, Bloomfield, was arrested once in June then again last week.

Bruhn was booked into the Greene County Jail at 3:46 a.m. on Sunday, June 13, after she was arrested by Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $800 and was released later the same day.

Then Bruhn was arrested again and booked into jail at 4:05 a.m. last Friday, August 6, after she was arrested by Officer Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department. This time she’s being held without bond and is still in custody as of mid-day Wednesday.

The first arrest came about after LPD Officer Joe Riley made a traffic stop and found the male driver had blood on his head. Officer Riley was told the man and his wife, Amanda Bruhn, had been in an altercation at their home on Warren Road in the Bloomfield area.

The man allegedly said Bruhn was throwing stuff and hit him two or three times with a whiskey bottle. He said he grabbed his two children (from a previous relationship) and tried to get out. The man was enroute to the residence of a family member in Linton. Officer Riley reported the man was bleeding from his head and he had red marks on his arms and back.

Officer Riley completed the business of the traffic stop but he requested the sheriff’s department take over an investigation into the battery.

GCSD Deputy Michael Stanley, the investigating officer, and Deputy Devan Goad responded to Bruhn’s residence on Warren Road where she claimed the man hit her in the face. Deputy Stanley reported she did have bruising on her face as well as marks on her neck ad an arm. During conversations with her, Bruhn allegedly said the man hits and she throws stuff and she confirmed she threw a bottle at him.

Bruhn was arrested, bonded out, then was charged with:

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Disorderly conduct – engaged in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.

She was also served with a protective order, ordering her to have no contact with the alleged victim.

That case is still pending.

Then last Friday, August 6, LPD Dispatch got a call from the man who said he was staying at the residence of his family member on H Street NW in Linton, that he’s going through a divorce, that both parties have protective orders against the other, and that Bruhn had come to the residence but he wouldn’t open the door. He said she broke in and assaulted him.

When LPD Officer Bobby Pierce, the investigating officer, responded along with Officer Janzen Franklin, the man said he’d been at the Palace Bar earlier in the night and when Bruhn showed up there, he left because of the protective orders. After that, she started texting him.

He said she then showed up at the house with a female friend who knocked on the door. He said when he opened it, Bruhn pushed her way in and he told both women they needed to leave. He said Bruhn attempted to hit him but he went out the back door and left. He drove around the block and when he saw the two women had left, he returned to the house and locked the doors. But Bruhn returned to beat on the door then allegedly kicked the door in.

The man alleges Bruhn hit him several times in the head, bit him and scratched him. He tried to leave again but was blocked so he threw her to the ground. Officer Pierce reported he had redness, swelling and minor cuts and abrasions, including redness to his jaw, a scratch on the face, redness and swelling on his chest and shoulders, scratch marks on his back, redness and swelling to the back of his head and wet hair – he said she threw a drink on him.

Officer Pierce took pictures of the house including the door that was broken with pieces of the lock on the floor as well as a broken kitchen cabinet door.

The officers then located Bruhn at her friend’s residence in the Linton area. She appeared to have redness and swelling to her neck and fresh bruising.

Bruhn eventually confirmed she had kicked in the front door but claimed the man had choked her on the porch. She also admitted taking a package from the man’s house then throwing the contents out along a road.

Bruhn’s friend was also interviewed about what she witnessed.

Bruhn was arrested but has not bonded out since she’s being held without bond.

In this case, she’s being charged with:

  • Residential entry – breaking and entering dwelling, a Level 6 felony,

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Theft, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order, a Class A misdemeanor.
