Bloomfield man arrested for operating while intoxicated after anonymous tip

A Bloomfield man was arrested earlier this week after authorities received an anonymous call reporting he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene County Superior Court, Deputy Brayden DeMier of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department stopped a silver Chevrolet Cruze driven by Jeremy Murawski, 24, on State Road 54 near County Road 850 W on Oct. 5. Dispatch had received a report from a caller who said Murawski had “been drinking all day” and was driving toward McDonald’s in Linton to pick someone up.

Deputy DeMier confirmed the vehicle’s registration was expired and initiated a traffic stop. After contact with Murawski, the deputy noted signs of possible impairment and requested field sobriety testing. Murawski initially denied drinking but later admitted to having “three Twisted Teas,” according to the report.

During the investigation, the anonymous caller—who later identified himself privately to law enforcement—told deputies he lived with Murawski and that the suspect’s last drink had been about 15 minutes before leaving home.

Murawski reportedly failed field sobriety tests. When given a portable breath test, Murawski registered 0.059 percent BAC, below the 0.08 legal limit, but deputies transported him for a blood draw after he admitted to drinking and displayed other signs of impairment.

Murawski was taken to Greene County General Hospital for a certified blood test before being booked into the Greene County Jail. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.

He appeared in Greene Superior Court Oct. 8 for an initial hearing.
