Carl Joe Feutz, 24, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department late Friday, December 6. His bond was set at $18,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Deputy Elmore, the investigating officer, and GCSD Deputy Michael Coy were dispatched to a residence on Fellows Ridge Road after a woman called 911 and said her son, Carl Joe Feutz, was at her home screaming and yelling, saying he wanted his gun. She said she needed officers to hurry, indicating she was afraid the situation would escalate.

While the officers were enroute, the woman called back and said Feutz had hit her husband in the head with a baseball bat and he was bleeding. The woman said she was holding a gun in her hand to protect herself but Carl Feutz had left the house and was walking down the driveway.

When the officers arrived, they talked to the couple and confirmed that the man was injured and had suffered a severe hematoma with a laceration.

According to information in a probable cause affidavit prepared by Deputy Elmore, another law enforcement officer had contact with Feutz earlier in the evening and Feutz’s gun was taken and given to his mother with Feutz’s permission. The reason the gun was taken was due to Feutz’s level of intoxication and due to suicidal comments.

During interviews, Deputy Elmore reported the couple explained Feutz came to their home unannounced and walked in without knocking or permission then started screaming that he wanted his gun, using obscenities. Feutz allegedly threatened the couple’s life, but they stood firm that he was not getting the firearm back for his own safety.

With Feutz acting aggressively, the man grabbed a metal baseball bat and when Feutz threatened the woman, he pushed Feutz with the bat and they both attempted to push him out the door. But Feutz allegedly managed to grab the bat and hit the man.

When Feutz appears in Greene Circuit Court for an initial hearing, he’ll be facing charges of:
• Residential entry – breaking and entering dwelling, a Level 6 felony,
• Battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, and
• Intimidation where threat is to commit a forcible felony, a Level 6 felony.
