Vanessa Jane Karl, 64, of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born April 13, 1962 in Linton, she was the daughter of Kenneth Gene and Orvella C. (Oliphant) Heaton.

Vanessa worked as a sales associate for Dollar General in Bloomfield.

Surviving relatives include: her husband of forty-four years, Joe Karl; one son, Payton Karl (Shia); her grandsons, Jedd and Jace Karl; Mother, Orvella Heaton; a brother, Wesley Heaton (Susan); and her niece and nephew, Heather and Hunter Heaton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Gene “Mouse” Heaton.

There will be no public visitation or services, Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
