Thelma Ruth Wilkes, 90, of Linton, Indiana, peacefully went to Heaven on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, Indiana. She was born on January 23, 1929 in Sullivan County, Indiana to Ray and Lucille (McClellan) Keene. Ruth married her sweetheart, Charles W. ‘Bill’ Wilkes on April 1, 1960.

Ruth was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. Her family was her world.

Family left to cherish the memory of Ruth includes: two sons, Bill (Karen) Wilkes, Chuck (Jill) Wilkes; one daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Suthard, all of Linton; six grandchildren, Clint (Brandy) Wilkes, Rich (Dyan) Wilkes, Justin (Jacqi) Suthard, Jennifer Suthard, Trent (Katie) Wilkes and Madison Wilkes; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Delaney, Allison, Andrew and Logan; three brothers, Darrel (Lois) Keene of Brownsburg, Gary Keene of Linton and Glen (Bonnie) Keene of Lyons.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Bill Wilkes; grandson, Quinton Charles Wilkes; two brothers, John and Paul ‘Wick’ Keene; sister, Deborah Morrison and sister-in-law, Roberta Keene.

A funeral service honoring the life of Thelma will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Kenneth Adams and Rev. David Tyra officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, October 21 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Gardens of Ketcham or Shriners Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
