After graduation, Sandra continued her education at the Indiana Cosmetology Academy in Bedford, Indiana. She began her career as a Cosmetologist at Connie’s Hair Salon in Bloomfield, Indiana.

She soon met the love of her life and married Lanny Wayne Wilson on October 12, 1968. Learning they were expecting their first child, a son Daniel Wayne Wilson, Sandra left her career as a Cosmetologist where she felt her calling to be a devoted stay at home mom. Two years later they extended their family with their second son Michael Leroy Wilson. Lanny and Sandra raised their family in Owensburg, Indiana.

When Sandra became a grandmother, she lovingly earned the nickname of Ma. She was just as amazing as a grandmother as she was a mother, Again, she was blessed to have the title as a Great Grandmother, where as her health declined, she would enjoy lying in bed playing board games, cops and robbers, card games and many activities with her Great Grandchildren. Sandra loved bird watching and ensured her bird feeders were always filled hoping to spot a bird she had never seen before. She loved her flower gardens and attending to her fish aquarium. She looked her best and waited patiently for every weekend where she looked forward to a very special lunch date with her son, Michael. Her daughter in law, Amy spent every day with Sandra as her caregiver where they became not just mother and daughter in law, but cherished friends.
