Roy Andrew Cooksey, age 84, of Lyons, passed away peacefully at 11:55 A.M. on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Midland on June 11, 1936, the son of Paul & Lucille (Stuppy) Cooksey.

Roy was a 1955 graduate of Midland High School. He retired from Peabody Coal Company after 32 years of service.

He was a life-long member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Lyons, the Switz City Masonic Lodge, and the U.M.W.A.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and helping his family. He also enjoyed helping his nephew at Southside Express.

He is survived by his daughter, Tambi Craig of Lyons, his son, John Todd (Jana) Cooksey of Lyons, four grandchildren, Andrew Lee (Jessica) Craig of Noblesville, Katie Lynn (Andy) Edmondson of Linton, Jenalee Cooksey of Indianapolis, and Scott T. (Breanna) Cooksey of Lyons, great-grandchildren, Copper and Beckett, step-great-grandchildren, Luella and Berkley, a brother, John (Donetta) Cooksey of Anderson, sister-in-law, Barbara D. Ellis of Lyons, and a special friend, Barbara Griffin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kayanna (Hoover) Cooksey,

Visitation will be held at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Lyons on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. with a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
