John R. Glidden, 82, of Newark, IN passed away July 27, 2022 at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington. Born May 28, 1940 in Newark, he was the son of the late Charles and Gayle (Carmichael) Glidden.

John graduated from Solsberry School with the Class of 1958. On July 22, 1961 he married Leeda M. (Haywood) in Newark.

He worked as a truck driver for Wetterau Foods for many years and retired from Yellow Freight in 2000.

John was a craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and loved his animals.

He made several pieces of furniture for his family.

Survivors are; his wife, Leeda; three daughters, Jody (Pete Miller) Pedretti, Mary Ann (Andy) Chaney and Chrissy (Tim Burks) Baker; four grandchildren, Jacob (Kelsie) Chaney, Julia (Steve) Lucas, Jordan (Nick Fiegle) Harrison and Zackary (Hannah Krebs) Harrison; a great granddaughter, Wesliegh Harrison;

three sisters, Doris (John) Sherfield, Barbara Pritchett and Linda (Larry) Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and a Nephew, Dean Sherfield.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Newark Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Solsberry Christian Church.

The family has asked that Memorial Contributions be made to The Newark Cemetery.
