John Earl Hubbell
/John Earl Hubbell, 76, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 6:58 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born March 15, 1943 in Greene County, Indiana to Ray Hubbell and Iva C. (Horton) Hubbell.
John married Carolyn Sue (Beck) Hubbell on June 6, 1964. Together they raised 3 children, Sherry, Jon Ray and Michael.
John graduated from Coalmont High School in 1961. He served in the 152nd Infantry Army National Guard. He took pride in being the former President of Peavey Cemetery Board, following his father in the position. He was a 50 year member of Vigo Lodge F.&A.M. #29 in Lewis, IN, Valley of Scottish Rite, and a member and supporter of the UMWA. John started his career at the Jasonville shops as a welder and in the early years was a coal miner at Latta Mine. After many years of service John retired from Hawthorn Mine in 2000. John enjoyed IU basketball and was an avid Shakamak Laker fan. John liked tractor and truck pulls and loved his own truck. He was meticulous about his yard and the direction you mowed, some knew him as a Yard Architect.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Sue (Beck) Hubbell of Jasonville, IN whom he married on June 6, 1964; children, Sherry McQueary (Kent) of Lafayette, IN, Jon Ray Hubbell (Regina) of Jasonville, IN, Michael Hubbell (Stacey) of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Casey McQueary, Krista Anderson (Ian), Jared Mcqueary (Ashley), Josh McQueary, Christopher Hubbell (Leah), Harley Hubbell, Meah Hubbell, Amanda Axe, Stormi Hayden (Brandon), Kyle Alsman (Cailyn), Madison Axe, Samantha Zimmerly (Tyler), Mariah Neal (Jason), Jake Hubbell; great-grandchildren, 16; sister, Shirley Strahla of Linton, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law, Melvin; granddaughter, Meranda Hubbell.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday November 29, 2019, and 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Funeral Home, with a Masonic Memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral Services will immediately follow visitation at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Cox Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Reed officiating.
Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Clay County, IN.
