David Gaither, age 70, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Linton, IN on March 21, 1949, the son of the late Ernest Gaither & Mary (Brogan) Gaither.

He was a 1967 graduate of Linton High School. He was a proud United States Army veteran and United States Navy veteran. He worked as a police officer for the Linton Police Department, Bloomfield Police Department and the Greene County Sherriff's Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22 in Linton, VFW Post #7118 and was a former Master of the Masonic Lodge in Lyons. He enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard, flowers and bird watching.

David is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nina Gaither; daughter, Marci Lea Erin Gaither of Pittsburgh, PA; step-daughter, Tammy (Darrin) Gibbon of Rome, IN; step granddaughters, Kaylee (Cody Meadows) Bohnert and LaTasha Ball; step-great-grandchildren, Briana Jones and Wyatt Ball; sisters, Susan (Steve) Russell of Davenport, FL and Beth Gaither of Terre Haute; brother, Mark (Julie) Gaither of Grays Creek, NC; nieces, Allison Mary-Helen Gaither and Medley Poe; nephew, Jason Russell; great nephews, Brayden Poe and Eli Poe as well as his beloved fur babies, Bella, Baby, Cali and Boots.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Tuesday, November 26,2019, with Pastor Doug Cassel officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Private burial will take place at a later date.
