Jerry W. Shadle

Jerry W. Shadle, 77, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life, on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 28, 1945 in Bluffton, Indiana to Herbert and Doris (Mosley) Shadle. He married Joan (Ritchey) Shadle on September 1, 2007.

Jerry was a US Army Veteran, serving as a drill sergeant. He was member of the Odon United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, in the Feed My Sheep ministry and on several committees. Jerry was also a member of the 1961 graduating class of Muncie High School, NRA and American Legion. He was a retired truck driver with 40 years of service. Jerry was an avid fan of IU Basketball and Football, the Pacers and Colts. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars and his 1954 Chevy Hot Rod.

Family left to cherish the memory of Jerry include: his wife, Joan Shadle; one son, Ty Shadle of Indianapolis; one daughter, Christine McFarland of Greenwood; two step-sons, Mauri Hunter of Sumner, IL and Rick Hey of Indianapolis; his grandchildren, Andrew (Cody) Shadle, McKynse Shadle and Rylie McFarland; one great-grandchild, Hadley Shadle; nine step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great- grandchildren; four sisters, Judy (Bob) King, Beverly (Gary) Taylor, Cathy (Don) Rothenberger and Letta (Greg) Adams.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Odon United Methodist Church with Tim Ahlemeyer officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon following military graveside rites presented by the Odon VFW Post #9627.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Odon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
