James Brian Mayfield
/James Brian Mayfield, age 52, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 6:50 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with his family by his side.
He was born in Linton on October 6, 1971, the son of Gary L. and Linda D. (Elliott) Mayfield.
Brian was a 1990 graduate from Linton-Stockton High School. He worked throughout the years for SEECO in Linton, as a wash plant operator for Black Beauty Coal Mine, and enjoyed mowing lawns with his uncle Rick.
He was a member of Linton First Christian Church and was proud to say he had participated at AA and received his 6 year coin.
Brian enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He loved all children and helping others.
He is survived by his daughter, Chloie D. Mayfield of Linton; his father, Gary L. Mayfield of Linton; sister, Leslie D. (Jon) Cliver of Dugger; brother, Daniel R. (Lisa) Mayfield of Saginaw, Michigan; two grandchildren, Willow and Kyler Bushy; and a granddaughter due in January, Maizlee.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Linda D. (Elliott) Mayfield; and his grand baby, Baby Bushy.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023, with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons, near his mother and grandfather, Jim.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Home Health Care of Vincennes or ViaQuest Hospice, through the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to both organizations for the exceptional care and dignity they showed Brian.
