Irene Mae Padgett

Irene Mae Padgett 88, of, Switz City, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at her sister’s residence in Williams. Born June 1, 1932 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Gerald and Thelma (Deckard) Sowder.

She was a homemaker and also owned and operated Padgett’s Pizza in Linton. She attended Linton First Christian Church. She loved to sing at church and play the accordion. She kept journals about family and friends, loved playing cards and being around people. She served the Lord with all of her heart.

Surviving relatives include: one son, Terry Padgett of Richmond; two sisters, Carolyn Perry of Williams and Maxine Allgood of Bedford; one brother, Harold Sowder (Mary Jane) of Bedford; a son-in-law, Randy Sperling of Switz City; one sister-in-law, Shirley Sowder of Bedford; her grandchildren, April Griffith, Bill (Cassie) Griffith, Amber (Jeff) Frye and Erica (Jeff) Lane; great grandchildren, Shainia Richardson, Makayla Griffith, Morgan Frye, Sarah (Johnny) Tiefel and Hayley Lane; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Padgett on August 2, 2020, one daughter, Lana Sperling, one sister, Barbara Smoot, a brother, Farrell Sowder and her parents.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Fairview cemetery in Linton.
