Everett Allen Herrington
/Everett Allen Herrington, age 96 of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1923 in Owen County, the son of Jesse & Julia (Keller) Herrington.
Everett was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He served overseas in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and Ardennes. Everett began working in 1942 for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from Conrail in 1994, serving the railroad for 43 years. He married Kathryn L. McKee in 1946 and they were married 55 years until she passed away in 2001.
Everett was a member of the Worthington American Legion. He enjoyed working outdoors and woodworking.
Everett is survived by son, Rick (Pam) Herrington of Worthington, two granddaughters, Christy (Jeff) Wilson of Mounds View, Minnesota and Ashley (Steve) Lower of Linton, five great-grandchildren, Aurora, Teegan, & Jarvis Wilson, Josh & Baya Lower, a brother, Jerry Herrington, sister, Barbara Jean Sheese, and a special niece, Kathy (Roger) Creager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathryn L. (McKee) Herrington, four brothers, Richard, Charles, Robert, and Jim Herrington, and three sisters, Irene Truax, Merva Rice, and Joanne Stahl.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery, with military rites by the Worthington American Legion.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 P.M., and from 10 A.M. Tuesday until the time of service.
