Brother Edward Morris Smith, Sr. 75, of Bloomfield, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Born May 12, 1944 in Fayetteville, Tennessee, he was the son of Connie Mayhew and Georgia Lee (Taft) Smith.

Brother Ed was a retired minister He founded Gethsemane Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the Army and the Tennessee National Guard.

Surviving relatives include: four children, Bryan Smith (Teena) of Bloomfield, Micah Stanley of Roanoke, Virginia, Ed Smith Jr. (Beth) of Plainville and Roanna Lay (Kevin) of Rochester, Washington; his grandchildren, Daniel, Trey, Hannah, Joseph, Tori, Livia, Samuel, Katelyn, Grace and Benjamin; siblings, Ann Durham of Estel Springs, Tennessee, George Smith of Ellettsville, Bobby Smith of Flintville, Tennessee, Jimmy Smith of Nashville, Tennessee and Jack Smith of Fayetteville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Irene Smith on December 28, 2014, siblings, Gay Gilbert, Jean Curtis and Brenda Flowers and two infant brothers, one grandson, Nehemiah James and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Gethsemane Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
