Dora Mae (Niceley) Jewell
/Dora Mae (Niceley) Jewell, 91, who loved to be called “Momma” by her children, Mamma by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gained her precious Angel wings at 1:30 p.m. on February 25, 2026.
Dora Mae was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on October 22, 1934 to Guy Niceley and Lottie B. (Trogglon) Niceley.
Dora was mother to Terry R. Jewell (Mary), Vicki S. Weakly (Scott), Robby R. Jewell (Deanna) and, Sandra L. Hawkins (Richard) and Richard D. Jewell (Angela). She raised her children with love and devotion with her husband, Shirley R. Jewell.
Dora worked outside the home briefly, but she loved her job as a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Dora was known as care giver to many children over her life, she helped raise three grandchildren and was a constant source of faith, devotion and love to all her family.
Her faith in God was immeasurable, she was very strong willed and believed each and every day she lived, was a gift from God. She prayed daily for all her family, friends, and for those around the world that she didn’t even know. Her hobbies included painting, crafting and gardening.
Dora was preceded in death by parents, husband, Shirley Jewell in 2011, infant son, Randy Jewell, son, Richard Dewayne Jewell in 2024, infant grandson, Keith Jewell, grandson, Justin Jewell in 2024, son-in-law, Richard Hawkins in 2023, three sisters, two brothers and one nephew.
She is survived by one brother, Bob Niceley (Anita) of Columbus; her children, Terry R. Jewell (Mary) of Hobbieville, Vicki S. Weakly (Scott) of Muncie, Robby R. Jewell (Deanna) of Ridgeport and Sandra L. Hawkins of Lyons; one daughter-in-law, Angela Jewell of Lyons; twenty-four grandchildren, sixty-eight great grandchildren and twenty-six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons, with Rev. Kim King officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in rural Lyons.
Public visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Living Lights Ministry or Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
