David J. Clark
/David J. Clark, 79, of Bicknell, passed away peacefully at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Heart to Heart Hospice House in Evansville. He was born in Vincennes on March 2, 1947, to Frank and Emma (Bryn) Clark, and lived a life marked by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family and community.
A proud 1965 graduate of North Knox High School, David answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. That same spirit of duty carried through the rest of his life. After many years of service as an equipment operator with Duke Energy, retiring in 2011, David also back through his long commitment to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served faithfully for 35 years and rose to the role of Chief.
David was also a driving force in the early days of Wreaths Across America in Bruceville, reflecting his respect for service and remembrance. At home, he found joy in the simple things he loved most: woodworking, especially the careful craft of carving bowls, tending his garden, and spending time outdoors. Above all, David cherished time with his grandchildren, who brought him his greatest joy and pride.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Linda Sue (Moyer) Clark; his sons, Brent (Shelley) Clark and Adam (Amber) Clark; his beloved grandchildren, Rylee, Megan, Isaiah, Judah, and Juliana Clark; and his siblings, Shirley Bowman, Mary Ellen Summers, Ronald Clark, and Sarah Bromley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Joan Moore, John Clark, and Milton Clark.
A graveside service to celebrate David's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Bruceville Cemetery, with Jarrod Chattin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Township Fire Department or Grouseland in Vincennes, through the funeral home.
