Dallas Eugene Burch

Dallas Eugene Burch, age 84, of Bloomfield, Indiana, passed away at his home in Center Township, Greene County, on September 21, 2025.

Dallas was born on October 11, 1940, to Albert and Mary (née McDonald) Burch. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in the Class of 1958. After graduation, he joined the National Guard and proudly served for six years. Following his military service, Dallas worked as a quarry worker, farmer, and later with J.L. Wilson building bridges. He went on to become a carpenter and millwright, and was a proud member of the Carpenter and Millwright Union.

Dallas built his own log cabin home, which he continued to improve over many years, and he took great pride in his craftsmanship. He loved nature and farming, and throughout his career was known for his willingness to take on the most difficult and dangerous jobs. Exacting and precise in his work, Dallas was respected for his skill and dedication. He valued hard work and took pride in his lack of prejudice, respecting anyone who shared his strong work ethic.

Dallas is survived by his brothers Edward (Maudie) Burch of Hobbieville, Indiana; Robert (Erma) Burch of Bloomington, Indiana; and Charles (Rhonda) Burch of Bloomfield, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary (née McDonald) Burch, and two sisters, Louise (Charles) Cummings and Marybelle (Jim) Peloso.

A visitation will be held at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Indiana, on Friday September 26, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. A graveside funeral service will follow at Augustine Burch Cemetery on Burch Lane, beginning at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Stone Belt ARC or Eastern Fire Territory.
