Charles L. ‘Chas’ Duffroy
/Charles L. ‘Chas’ Duffroy, 87, of Loogootee, Indiana, formerly of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Poplar Care Strategies in Loogootee. He was born on September 13, 1938 in Linton to Leon C. and Helen E. (Haberley) Duffroy. Chas made his home with Waynette and Jim Pankey for the last 25+ years.
Chas was of the Catholic faith. He dearly loved baseball, coaching and supporting the Linton Miners Baseball Team. Later in life, after moving to Loogootee, he supported all their teams as well. You would often see him hanging around the Fire Department, making sure that everyone was doing their job and visiting the crew. He was a huge Cardinals fan and could quote stats from years gone by many times over.
Family left to cherish the memory of Chas includes one sister, Leona Lucas of Linton and several nieces and nephews.
Chas was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen May and Georgetta Baize.
Funeral services to honor the life of Chas will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Dick Smith officiating. Chas will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Linton Miners Baseball Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
