Bernie Gechtman

Bernie Gechtman, age 78, of Switz City, passed away peacefully at 2:37 am on Friday, August 30, 2024, at IU Health & Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 5, 1946, the son of Jack & Gussie (Wolfson) Gechtman.

He lived most of his life in Miami, Florida for almost 70 years before moving to Indiana. He worked as an elevator installer with Otis Elevator for 10 years, International Commodities Importer & Distributor as well as a Commercial Real Estate Agent. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, skiing, traveling, a good cigar, attending motorcycle events and was a BIG Miami Dolphins Fan.

Bernie is survived by his son, Lucas F. (Crystal) Gechtman of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Jordan D. McDonald, Adia K. Robinette and X-Zander K. Gechtman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sandy Hoover and Lee Ryder.

Private services will be observed by the family.
