Barbara Parkes

Barbara J. Parkes, 86, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born December 4, 1931 in Worthington, she was the daughter of Ben and Fanny (McMurray) Anderson.

She was a homemaker and attended Cincinnati Christian Church and later Sherwood Oaks Church in Bloomington.

Surviving relatives include: three sons, Steve Parkes of Spencer, Brad Parkes of Bloomfield and Stacy Parkes of Florida; one sister, Margie Watkins of Bloomington; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Parkes on November 23, 1993, one son, Scott Parkes and her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in Salem cemetery in NSWC Crane, Indiana.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to IU Health Hospice House.
