Christmas Open House at the Courthouse on Friday features Silent Auction, to benefit CASA

Christmas Open House at the Courthouse on Friday features Silent Auction, to benefit CASA

Let your silence be heard Friday to help raise money for the Voices for Kids open house and silent auction at the Greene County Courthouse.

The event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first floor on the Greene County Courthouse, benefits the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. The proceeds will benefit county children involved in the court system and CASA program due to neglect and/or abuse, according to CASA Director Amber Spicer.

Many great items are up for grabs thanks to donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout Greene County as well as other areas across the state.

Some items available for bidding include tickets to Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari, an autographed Indianapolis Colts football, many themed baskets, gift certificates, and much more.

In addition to the silent auction, Christmas trees, adorned with ornaments made by students at area schools, will be on display. Live entertainment will be provided and refreshments will be available.

CASA’s Facebook page, Greene County CASA Program, has posted images of silent auctions items for those who want to get a sneak peek of some items available.

“We (CASA) are the voice for the child that is currently in the foster system. We work with parents, DCS [Department of Child Services], foster families, and most importantly the child to make sure their voice is heard,” said CASA Director Amber Spicer. “We also advocate for any services the child might need and form an opinion through research of the case to make a recommendation as to what is in the best interest of the child.”
