A 50-year-old Linton woman remains behind bars in the Greene County Jail on multiple drug charges following a Feb. 9 arrest for residential entry and a Feb. 14 arrest that led officers high-speed chase from Linton to Switz City.

Holly White was originally arrested on Feb. 9 by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy James Carpenter on a residential entry charge. She was again arrested on Feb. 14 by Linton Police Department (LPD) Officer Davis Aerne on several charges after leading police on a high-speed chase.

On Feb. 9, Linton Dispatch received a call from someone locking up White’s house following the residential entry arrest stating they had found drugs along with a note saying “we left you a line” in the garage. The line, according to the probable cause affidavit, was described as methamphetamine.

LPD Office Cayden Walker went to White’s residence and obtained consent to search from another resident of the home. She gave Walker consent to search the garage which is where the said “line” had been found.

During the search of the garage, according to the probable cause affidavit, Walker found a white piece of paper lying on a workbench with “Holly left you line on top of yellow toolbox. I’ll clean this mess up later” written on it. On the same bench, Walker located a white and yellow plastic toolbox. Sitting by the handle of the box was what appeared to be a black tile with a line of white crystal substance on it. Walker also located a multicolor metal container with a picture of a person on a horse on the lid. Inside that container, Walker found a clear glass smoking device with burnt residue and a white rubbed hose attached, white paper rolled up, a knife blade, and a pair of tweezers. Also on the bench, the officer located a clear glass candle-type lid containing 32 white circle tablets without an identifying imprint. While searching the area of the workbench, he also located a red clipboard with a white crystal-like substance on it. After searching the workbench area, Walker expanded his search to the garage and located a white and black notebook with names and monetary amounts written in it. All items were photographed for evidence. Using field tests, Walker determined the white crystal-like substance on the black tile as well as the white crystal substance on the red clipboard field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Walker went to the Greene County Jail to talk to White, who had been booked earlier that day on a preliminary residential entry charge. Walker, according to the probable cause affidavit, informed White he was there to talk about her garage as he had just been in it. White alleged she was in the garage the previous night and knew nothing was in there. Walker asked White to be honest with him about the methamphetamine he located; however, she alleged she knew nothing about it. When asked about the metal container with paraphernalia inside, she also alleged she knew nothing about it. Walker asked White to submit a DNA sample to send off with the smoking device; however, she did not answer and just stated there was not a “meth pipe” in the garage. Walker, according to the probable cause affidavit, listed some of the items found in the garage, including the 32 tablets. White claimed the tablets to be some kind of aspirin. She claimed the notebook was not hers but possibly belonged to someone who comes over to her house.

Walker was asking White questions but she did not answer; instead, she asked questions about being behind bars on a different charge. Walker wrote in the probable cause that he told White he was done speaking with her since she was not being honest. When he stood up from the table, White said “he left a line because he tore up my garage last night". When asked who “he” was, White asked Walker what that would do for her and shrugged her shoulders.

White was charged with residential entry. Her bond was set at $4,000 and she was released after posting $400.

She was later arrested on Feb. 14 following a police chase from Linton to Switz City. At the time, a warrant for charges of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia from the Feb. 9 incident was executed.

White contacted the LPD on Feb. 14 asking to speak with Chief Paul Clark. While on patrol, dispatch contacted Officer Aerne to request he report to the police department. He was advised that White had been in the department’s parking lot and had just left traveling north on 2nd Street Northwest. According to the probable cause affidavit, Aene said he was familiar with White’s vehicle from previous incidents and spotted it traveling north on 2nd Street Northwest. Knowing White had an active warrant for her arrest, he activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.

As Aerne approached the vehicle, he asked White to turn the vehicle off and step outside of the vehicle to speak with him. According to the probable cause, she said she was on her way to talk to Chief Clark. Aerne advised White there was a warrant for her arrest and that she needed to step out of the vehicle. He requested her to step outside of the vehicle several times. She did not comply. In fact, she rolled up her window. Aerne attempted to open the door to the vehicle but White had the doors locked. When Chief Clark arrived on the scene, he advised White to exit the vehicle or the officers would break her vehicle window. White requested to speak to Clark but the chief said they would talk after she was in custody. She yet again refused to exit the vehicle. According to the probable cause affidavit, Chief Clark advised her once more to exit the vehicle or the window would be broken. She did not comply. Using his baton, Clark struck the driver’s side window twice, causing the window to break. At that time, White placed the vehicle in drive and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

She drove north on 2nd Street Northwest, turning west on E Street Northwest then south on 3rd Street Northwest. Upon reaching State Road 54, White disregarded the stop sign as she turned eastbound and ran off the roadway on the south side of the intersection before gaining control and continuing eastbound on State Road 54. Aerne and Clark followed White with their emergency lights and sirens activated.

White refused to stop; therefore, stop sicks were requested to be placed in the Switz City area. Aerne noted in the probable cause affidavit that through his dash camera footage, White can be seen passing a vehicle uphill in the area of County Road 900 on State Road 54. Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD) deployed stop sticks at the intersection of County Road 100 and State Road 54. Holt advised White struck the spike strips and continued east.

As Aerne and Clark continued east, they located White’s vehicle in the yard of a residence at the intersection of Main Street and State Road 54 in Switz City. Clark advised Aerne that White was not in the vehicle which meant she had fled on foot.

A citizen informed Aerne and GCSD Deputy Kelly Hutchens that White traveled south across the road and was inside his truck. According to the probable cause affidavit, he indicated she was in the passenger seat of his truck, by pointing his finger downward. Aerne opened the door, removed White from the vehicle, and placed her in handcuffs. The citizen told Clark he was just sitting there when White got into his truck. Aerne later spoke with the citizen who said he saw White’s vehicle coming toward him around traffic and he thought she was going to hit him so he stopped. He said White veered off the left side of the road, jumped a ditch, went over the road, and slid up to the house. He said White came running towards him stating she needed help for a family member. He was unsure how she got into his vehicle but he believed she unlocked the door and jumped in. He said she was trying to get him to drive away stating “drive I’ll make it worth your while”.

Another witness said he observed White traveling at a high rate of speed. He was traveling from Linton and Bloomfield on State Road 54. He said he was stopped in traffic behind a dump truck and could not see around the truck so he moved slightly toward the center line and White’s vehicle passed him so fast it was like a blur. According to the probable cause affidavit, the witness believed White to be traveling at a rate of around 120 miles per hour.

White is being held without bond in the Greene County Jail.

She is being charged with:

Resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony
Unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, a Level 6 Felony
Refusal to aid an officer, a Class B Misdemeanor
Reckless driving at unreasonable high or low speed to endanger safety, a Class C Misdemeanor
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor
Unlawful carrying of a handgun with a prior felony conviction within the last 15 years, a Level 5 Felony
