Woman accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance
/A driver who was stopped in eastern Greene County last night had a suspended license. She’s also accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of meth, marijuana and syringes.
Laura Ann Moore, 51, Bloomington, was arrested by Indiana State Police Trooper Richard Klun on Thursday, December 3.
A random vehicle registration status check on a vehicle in eastern Greene County revealed the woman driving, a registered owner of the vehicle, had a suspended driver’s license, with five indefinite suspensions against her.
Trooper Klun, who was traveling behind the vehicle on State Road 45 around 8:30 p.m. last night/Thursday, December 3, initiated a traffic stop when the vehicle turned onto Shady Meadows.
Moore was the driver. Trooper Klun reported her hands were shaking, she was upset and said she didn’t want to go to jail. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, she indicated there not anything she was aware of, but she refused to give consent for a search.
With GCSD Deputy Jordan Allor also on the scene to assist, Moore was asked to exit the vehicle and Trooper Klun retrieved his K9 partner Loki to conduct a sniff around the vehicle. K9 Loki gave an alert to the presence of an illegal substance.
Trooper Klun reported that during a search of the vehicle, he found two syringes, two metal spoons with residue and a burnt marijuana cigarette. One of the spoons field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Moore also did not consent to a blood draw but one was taken after a search warrant was approved – results pending.
Moore was booked into the Greene County Jail at 10:50 p.m. Jail staff reported that during the booking process, Moore was found to be in possession of a plastic bag containing a plant material believed to be marijuana.
Moore was being held without bond pending court appearance – date not yet known.
A criminal case has been filed against her in Greene Superior Court. She is facing preliminary charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in the body, a Class C misdemeanor.
