Updated: Springville man arrested for dealing meth

A 43-year-old Springville man is behind bars on three counts of dealing methamphetamine following a March 12 traffic stop in eastern Greene County.

David Anthony Hoard was arrested by Sgt. Jordan Allor after a traffic stop at Interstate 69 and State Road 445.

Hoard is charged with two counts of dealing methamphetamine over five grams, a Level 3 felony, and one count of dealing methamphetamine over one gram, a Level 4 felony.

In January, Allor met with a confidential informant to arrange a controlled buy of methamphetamine from Hoard. After the controlled buy, the informant provided officers with two plastic corner bags containing a crystal-like substance. The substance, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, weighed 7.3 grams, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Later that month, officers set up another controlled buy with Hoard using the informant. In that instance, the informant brought officers 3.75 grams of a white crystal-like substance in a plastic corner bag. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

During a third controlled buy in January, the informant again met with Hoard. This transaction produced two plastic corner bags containing approximately 7.29 grams of a crystal-like substance, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

Each transaction was recorded, and the informant was under constant surveillance, allowing officers to identify Hoard as the individual selling the drugs, according to the affidavit.

Hoard was taken to the Greene County Jail following the traffic stop and is being held on a $45,000 bond, according to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
