This week’s Throwback Thursday features Guy Glover, a legendary local basketball coach and member of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Glover was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979 after a remarkable coaching career that included stops at Solsberry and Bloomfield. He began his coaching career at Solsberry before spending 25 years at Bloomfield, where his teams compiled 489 victories and a 71 percent winning percentage. Despite Bloomfield having an enrollment of just 400 students, Glover-coached teams captured 10 sectional championships, two regional titles and two Wabash Valley Tournament championships.

Following his coaching career, Glover went on to serve as Bloomfield’s athletic director. As a student, he was a four-year starter at Solsberry, later returning to coach there for three seasons. He also played freshman basketball at Central Normal College before leaving to serve in World War II.

Glover was widely respected for his ability to teach fundamentals and develop disciplined, competitive teams—leaving a lasting impact on high school basketball in Greene County.
