President directs flags to half-staff in honor of Senator Dole until sunset Thursday, and on Pearl Harbor Day on Tuesday

The White House issued a proclamation that the United States flag be displayed at half-staff as a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding public service of former U.S. Sen. Robert J. Dole, of Kansas, who passed away on Dec. 5, 2021. Flags are to remain lowered to half-staff until sunset on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021.

Additionally, the White House also issued a proclamation in accordance with Public Law 103-308, as amended, for the United States flag to be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, Tuesday, Dec. 7. Public Law 103-308 also calls for U.S. citizens to observe the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities in honor of those who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor.
