A pedestrian walking along North Legion Road in the Solsberry area of eastern Greene County was injured around midnight when he was hit by a passenger car that did not stop. GCSD is asking for information from the public to help locate a dark-colored passenger car with loud exhaust that may have damage on the driver’s side, front hood and/or windshield. According to GCSD Deputy Harvey Holt, Gregory Burgess was walking southbound, facing oncoming traffic, on North Legion Road, Solsberry, when the incident occurred around 12 a.m., Saturday, December 4. Burgess was not wearing reflective clothing or using a light.

As Burgess was walking on the edge of the roadway, a possibly-dark-colored passenger car with loud exhaust, headed south, crossed the center line and hit Burgess. The vehicle did not stop after striking Burgess. The vehicle may have damage on the driver’s side, front hood and/or windshield.

Burgess was transported from the scene by Greene County Ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment. His injuries were reported to be minor.

In addition to personnel from the sheriff’s department and ambulance service, the Center Fire Department also assisted on the scene.
