Nicole Stahl resigns from Greene County Treasurer position

By Halea Franklin

Greene County Treasurer Nicole Stahl, who’s in her second term, has announced her resignation effective May 13.

“Anyone that’s ever asked me about politics I’ve always said that when it takes more that it gives, it’s time to go. When it makes me feel like someone other than I am, it is time to go. An opportunity came to me that I could not pass up,” Stahl said.

After 23-and-a-half years of public service, Stahl said it is time to move on. She said it’s the best decision for her as well as for her family.

“I have loved this job and serving this great county. Thank you for that privilege,” Stahl said.

According to the Greene County Voter Registration Office, a caucus with the county’s Republican precinct committeemen will take place in the near future to name Stahl’s replacement. Stahl is a Republican; therefore, the Republican party is responsible for naming her replacement.
