Steven Edward McCombs, 30, arrested by Officer Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department early Saturday, July 17, is scheduled to be in court for an initial hearing tomorrow morning, July 29. His home address was listed in Lyons on jail records, Linton in court records.

McCombs is facing a charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony.

Officer Pierce responded after a woman called the LPD and reported an altercation with her husband, McCombs. Once on the scene, Officer Pierce interviewed McCombs, the woman who placed the call, her two adult friends and her juvenile child.

The woman who placed the call was the alleged victim who said that during the altercation, McCombs had pinned her up against a wall and choked her. Her two friends, adult women, were present during the altercation and both confirmed they had witnessed McCombs push her up against the wall but said the woman was able to push McCombs away. The juvenile child told the officer when he/she came out of their bedroom, they saw McCombs pinning their mother against the wall and choking her.

Officer Pierce photographed injuries sustained by the alleged victim including redness, swelling and scratches to the neck. No injuries were visible on McCombs.

McCombs denied the allegations but was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail at 3:50 a.m. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later the same day as his arrest.
