After rescue personnel and officers responded to help a Linton man who was injured in a fall, they reported the man reacted with an abusive and threatening attitude, yelling obscenities, resisting, spitting and hitting. They determined he was intoxicated.

Regonel Lane Petoskey II, 52, Linton, was arrested by Sgt. Logan Hobbs of the Linton Police Department on Friday, July 16. Petoskey’s bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but as of late Thursday, July 29, he had not yet posted bond and was still in custody.

Around 3:40 p.m. on Friday, July 16, Greene County Rescue personnel James Phillips and Derek Aydt, both of the Linton Fire Department, responded to a report of a drunk man who had fallen in the parking lot of an apartment complex and injured his head.

After LFD Phillips and Aydt arrived at the scene on 7th Street SE in Linton, the injured man was identified as Petoskey and they determined he needed medical treatment for a laceration to his head, but they also determined Petoskey was too intoxicated to deny medical treatment. Petoskey was told he needed to go to the hospital but he then became aggressive and assistance from law enforcement was requested.

Sgt. Hobbs arrived on the scene as Petoskey was being loaded into an ambulance. Sgt. Hobbs followed the ambulance to Greene County General Hospital and said once they arrived, Petoskey was still belligerent and shouting at LFD personnel which included a threat to beat one of them and punch him in the mouth.

LPD Chief Paul Clark also responded to assist at the hospital and Sgt. Hobbs reported that while they were in the emergency room, Petoskey moved aggressively toward Chief Clark and stood up from the bed after being told to stay in the bed. Petoskey continued to resist and not cooperate and ended up being tased then restrained.

Petoskey allegedly continued to be belligerent and continued shouting obscenities and make derogatory remarks directed toward medical staff. Petoskey was warned several times to stop.

Once Petoskey was transported to the Greene County Jail, he continued to resist and refused to sit in a designated chair during the booking process. Sgt. Hobbs reported that Petoskey was spitting due to his belligerent speech and his saliva hit LPD Officer Alan Jackson in the face. Petoskey allegedly then used his chest to hit Officer Jackson and made more threatening statements.

Petoskey was booked in at 5:31 p.m..

Petoskey is facing charges of:

Battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony,
Disorderly conduct – engaged in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor,
Intimidation, a Level 6 felony,
Intimidation, a Level 6 felony,
Public intoxication that endangers life, a Class B misdemeanor, and
Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor.
