Tuesday is Election Day in Worthington, Lyons and Jasonville
/Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, for municipal elections in Worthington, Lyons and Jasonville. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. The Greene County Courhouse will be closed.
Greene County Clerk Stuart Dowden explained that the Town of Worthington, Town of Lyons and City of Jasonville all have contested races so they will be the only ones voting on Election Day this year.
“Vote Centers for Worthington, Lyons and Jasonville will be open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5,” said Dowden.
The Vote Center in Worthington will be in the Worthington Municipal Building at 20 South Commercial Street.
The Vote Center in Lyons will be in the Lyons Community Building at 600 West Broad Street.
The Vote Center in Jasonville will be in the Jasonville Fire Department at 235 Cook Street.
“Anyone voting in one of those elections can vote at any of the three locations,” said Dowden.
According to Dowden, per Indiana Code IC 3-10-7-6 (e), any municipality that doesn’t have any contested races, doesn’t have to hold an election.
“Bloomfield and Linton fall into that category and have opted to not have a Fall election,” said Dowden. “Their races are already determined, and they would just be spending taxpayer money unwisely otherwise.”
