Linton man booked in yesterday for the second time in two weeks
/A Linton man who was arrested a couple of weeks ago after he crashed into a railroad crossing arm has been arrested again. In the earlier incident, he’s accused of OVWI after he tested with a .131 BAC. Two weeks later, he’s back in jail, but this time he tested with a BAC of .233. The legal limit is .08.
Chad Dewayne Johnson, 38, Linton, was taken into custody by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department following an incident that occurred on Sunday evening, June 7, around 9 p.m.
Johnson was the operator of a 2003 red Kawasaki that allegedly drove left of the center line multiple times and also failed to stop at a stop sign in the area of County Roads 200 North and 1225 West in the Linton area.
Deputy Jackson reported that during a traffic stop, Johnson smelled of alcohol and had quick, slurred speech, poor balance and an aggressive attitude along with other signs of impairment.
Johnson refused to take a chemical test and was transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw. Hospital personnel informed Deputy Jackson that Johnson had an alcohol concentration equivalent to .233 and that he had methamphetamine in his system.
After the first arrest, Johnson bonded out of jail and hadn’t even been to his initial hearing yet – it’s scheduled for early Thursday. Now he’s facing additional charges including:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body, a Class C misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
Johnson was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:19 a.m. on Monday, June 8.
His bond on the latest arrest has been set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but as of late today, Tuesday, June 9, he hasn’t posted bond and remains in jail.
