Linton man arrested in Switz City domestic incident
/One man was arrested following a domestic incident in Switz City last Thursday. Three children were reported to be present during the altercation.
Robert Blaine Smith, 27, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department following an incident that occurred in Switz City last Thursday evening, July 16.
Deputy Allor, the investigating officer, and Deputy Michael Coy responded to an apartment in Switz City shortly after 7 p.m. last Thursday, July 16, after a caller reported Robert Blaine Smith was pushing a woman around, had pushed her down on the floor, twisted her wrist and bit her arm.
After the deputies arrived, they learned Smith had been living there but had been packing his belongings to leave. An argument started and Smith said the woman tried to punch him and he bit her wrist. He said she hit him in the face. He denied twisting her arm. The woman said he pushed her, so she pushed him back and he then grabbed her arm, twisted it behind her back, bit her wrist and pushed her, causing her to fall.
The woman said she was afraid to call the police. She allegedly said Smith told her he would kill her when he got out of jail.
The deputies also learned there were three children present when the altercation occurred, and that the woman had been holding one small child when the altercation started.
Smith was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail around 8 p.m. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of Monday afternoon, Smith had not yet posted bond and remained in jail.
Smith is scheduled to appear at an initial hearing tomorrow afternoon. He is facing preliminary charges of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony, and intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.
